Poring Hot Springs is a nature reserve at the lowland region of Kinabalu Park
, located about 18km away from Ranau
town. This popular tourist destination features a series of tiled bathtubs fed by sulphuric hot springs in an imitative style of Japanese 'onsens'. For an additional rate, a small water park and indoor private cabin baths provide more options for visitors. These natural hot springs are a favourite post-recovery trip for climbers returning from Mount Kinabalu
, but the park also has its own nature attractions that include Rafflesia
flowers, waterfalls, butterfly garden and canopy walk in the jungle. Open daily from moring till evening, a small ticket fee is charged. Accommodation is available.
