Kota Kinabalu provides an excellent dining ground to sample all of Sabah's local cuisine, but also includes cultural dishes from Peninsular Malaysia and rest of Borneo. Fried egg noodles are a Chinese influence and incredibly popular in this side of the country, with many towns presenting their own version of the dish including Beaufort
and the most famous of all, Tuaran
Mee. Popular among the largest native group in Sabah, 'Tuhau', 'Nonsoom Bambangan' and 'Hinava' are three ubiquitous dishes associated with Kadazandusun people (search below). Finally, the sea gypsies (Bajau) and Filipino immigrants are famous for their grilled seafood.
